Mrs Baiden-Amissah was born on 8th February, 1954 in Shama, Ghana. She is married and has three children.
She received her Bachelor of Education Degree, specializing in Home Economics & Integrated Science, at the University College of Education, Winneba, Ghana, in 1991. She subsequently obtained certificates in Pedagogy and Early Childhood Development. In addition, she holds the Post Graduate Certificate "Leaders in Development: Managing Political & Economic Change" from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the Executive Master in Business Administration (EMBA), Gimpa, Ghana.
She has held substantial positions at various educational institutions and has been a member of various boards of state agencies. From 2001 to 2009 she was a Member of Parliament for Shama Constituency and a member of various parliamentary committees. From 2005 to 2009 she was Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports.
